Amir is a tax law expert and a visual artist.
Amir's exposure to tax law began during his legal studies at the London School of Economics (LSE), where he obtained an LL.B. and LL.M. in Taxation. Following his legal studies, Amir completed a Judicial Clerkship at the Tax Court of Canada. Currently, Amir is an S.J.D. (Doctor of the Science of Law) Candidate at the University of Michigan Law School, where he also obtained an LL.M. in International Tax. Amir was awarded the Michigan Grotius Fellowship.
Amir's legal articles have been published in leading legal journals worldwide. The articles have been cited in journal articles and books. Some have also made it to the top 10 list on the SSRN and received awards in writing competitions. Amir regularly presents his research in professional and academic conferences around the world. He was recently a Guest Lecturer in the International Tax course at the University of Michigan Law School. Currently, he is a co-lecturer of the Consumption Tax course, also at the University of Michigan.
From an early age, Amir was exposed to the visual arts by his father, the master artist Jacob Pichhadze. With Jacob's guidance, Amir learned painting and drawing. Like his father, Amir's art varies in style, themes and mediums. The works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions as well as international art fairs. The works have been reviewed in numerous newspapers and magazines.
Amir studied art history and theory at York University's Faculty of Fine Arts, where he received numerous scholarships and awards for his academic excellence. In response to Amir's accomplishments, Dr. Ken Carpenter, the Visual Arts Department Chair, exclaimed:
“In the history of the Visual Arts Department we have not previously had an occasion like this where a student has shown the particular kind of ability that Amir has shown. We are very proud of Amir!”
Inspired by the philanthropic tradition of his father, Amir continually strives to use his art as a means for supporting different charities. During his studies at York University, for example, Amir organized a successful scholarship fundraiser for York University.
